Elementary
Delivering on our Mission

Confidence + Curiosity
In Lower Elementary, students develop the confidence to ask meaningful questions and the curiosity to explore complex ideas, driving innovative academic thinking and fearless discovery.
Critical Thinking + Entrepreneurship
Through real-world problem solving and creative risk-taking, Upper Elementary students learn to think critically, lead with purpose, and transform ideas into meaningful action.
The MAC Elementary experience empowers students to reach their full potential while developing the confidence, character, and academic foundation to make a meaningful impact in their world.
As a leading Montessori Elementary school in Denver, MAC integrates authentic Montessori pedagogy with innovative academics, experiential learning, and intentional social-emotional development.
Organized into two three-year cycles, Lower Elementary (grades 1–3) and Upper Elementary (grades 4–6), our mixed-age classrooms foster leadership, collaboration, and intellectual independence. Through our Purpose Pathway framework, students engage in increasingly complex inquiry, research, and real-world application, cultivating critical thinking, agency, and a strong sense of personal responsibility.
Grounded in Montessori philosophy and aligned with Colorado Academic Standards, MAC’s Elementary program prepares students not only for academic success, but for purposeful citizenship and confident participation in an evolving global community.

The MAC Elementary experience empowers students to reach their own personal potential and develop the confidence and capabilities to positively impact their world.
Why Elementary at MAC?

Innovative Academics

Exploration of Character
In Elementary, our students begin to research and practice a growth mindset, an asset-based way of viewing challenges and setbacks. A growth mindset teaches critical skills such as open mindedness, preparedness, situational awareness and confidence when facing challenges. Social emotional learning is also a key component worked into the curriculum where students develop self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills that are vital for school, work, and life success. MAC uses RULER, an evidencebased approach to social and emotional learning, developed at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. RULER supports entire school communities in understanding the value of emotions, building the skills of emotional intelligence, and creating and maintaining a positive school climate.

Fearless, Forward Learners
Going Outs, where children learn outside the classroom, is an essential tenet of the Elementary classroom. At MAC, we expand on this notion of experiential explorations by integrating research, curriculum, service learning, and community awareness into our Going Outs with the understanding that children learn by doing. Experiential learning requires our students to function as a group through the collaboration and respectful decision-making processes, allowing for an entrepreneurial learning environment.

Tuition Assistance
We strive to increase financial accessibility to MAC and have several opportunities to help families afford a MAC education. MAC offers financial assistance options to eligible students over age 4 through the Tuition Adjustment program and partners with DPP and UPK. The Curtis Park Scholarship supports families within the 80205 school zip code. Merit-based awards are considered for 6-8th grade MAC Middle applicants.
Program Highlights

Going Out Field Trips
MAC empowers children to apply their learning while fostering independence and collaboration. Small groups of children go on field trips each week in which the students plan and execute all aspects of the trip. Our unique urban setting allows our children to fully be a part of our exciting city.

Overnight Trips
Students build connection and community as they learn, explore, and support one another during overnight experiences that strengthen relationships beyond the classroom.

Service Learning
Students engage in service learning by working together to support their community, developing empathy, responsibility, and a deeper understanding of how their actions can make a meaningful impact.

Presentations of Learning
Students deeply research topics, build projects, and confidently present their ideas to peers, demonstrating curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking.
