Nido & Toddler Community Assistant

Job Title: Nido and Toddler Community Assistant
Department: Nido and Toddler
Supervisor’s Title: Lead Teacher & Program Director
Employee Classification: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Daily Schedule: Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m - 6:00 p.m. (with a 1-hour break)


Support the Nido and Toddler classrooms with:

  • Diaper changes/toileting, bottles, mealtimes, and naps
  • Check on the classrooms to see if they need extra supplies- going to the dish room to get the supplies as needed.
  • Supporting the classrooms when a staff member is out, subbing in a specific room for the whole day if needed.
  • Going back and forth between Nido and Toddler classrooms to offer support when staffing is low
  • Supporting when the Nido classrooms when the teachers are on their breaks in the afternoon.
  • Daily Schedule: Hours are 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
    • Support the Nido classrooms with breaks from 11:00-2:30. The staff member’s break is 2:30-3:30.
      • During this time, the staff member will be in classrooms supporting the lunch and nap hour. This includes, but is not limited to sitting at the table, modeling eating, helping with cleaning, diapers, bottles, naps, and engaging with children through songs, reading, and work time.
      • In the morning and afternoon, the staff member will be asked to support in the Nido or Toddler classrooms, wherever extra support is needed. This could include being outside on the playground or in the community room.

    Nido and Toddler Support staff:
    • Proactively seeks areas to support the entire community before being asked
    • Needs to engage positively with all children, singing songs, encouraging children to participate in activities, and have a positive attitude
    • Needs to be aware of child development and understand the behaviors that are appropriate for children 8 weeks to 18 months when in Nido and 18 months to 3 years old when in Toddlers
    • Consistently use positive communication with parents at the end of the day
