Human Resources Manager

Job Title: Human Resources Manager
Department: Business Office
Supervisor’s Title: Director of Finance
Employee Classification: Exempt
Salary: $42,000 - $46,000

Essential Responsibilities:

Human Resources

  • Oversight of all Human Resources functions at MAC along with existing school-engaged employment council
  • Support the identification of substitute vacancies, advertising, vetting and interviewing of select applicants
  • Execute selection and recruitment processes to fill all faculty and staff positions
  • Oversight of new employee onboarding process including employment forms, background checks, and employee benefits
  • Manage employee separation process including terminations and exit interviews to create a process of reflection of ongoing improvements in employment practices
  • Ensure that human resources policies and practices are clearly articulated, consistently applied, and conform to legal requirements
  • Coordinate annual employee-training programs, including Sexual Harassment Prevention, Mandatory Reporting, and other required programs for all employees
  • Complete annual review of Employee Handbook in conjunction with Director of Communications and Director of Finance
  • Consult with legal counsel as appropriate, on specific employee challenges regarding policies and procedures
  • Oversight of employment records and document retention
  • Manage school Staff Census along with Direct of Finance to ensure complete accuracy
  • Administer renewal of benefit plans, open enrollment, onboarding of new employee benefits, maintain records for ACA reporting and COBRA administration
  • Oversee statutory benefits (Family Medical Leave Act, Short Term Disability and Workers Compensation)
  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance in reviewing, updating, and analyzing compensation budget/finance models
  • Assist Director of Finance with other business related tasks as necessary, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank deposits

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • PHR or SPHR Certification
  • Experience in an educational setting preferred
  • Minimum of three years of experience in benefits administration and HR management
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, solve problems, and maintain effective relationships with all members of the school community
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information
  • Ability to plan, organize and work independently with minimal direction
