Kindergarten, Elementary, Middle Admissions Process

Inquire about our school. You can fill out this form to provide basic information on your child and the timing you are considering and to schedule a tour.

Come visit us! After you inquire, we will reach out to schedule a personal tour which can be done in-person or virtually. During your tour, you will discover our history, explore our campus, and see our students and teachers in action. You will also hear about our academic programming. After your tour, we will email you an electronic application.

After you visit MAC you may then fill out an application. You will need to create an account if this is your first time filling out an application for MAC. There is an application fee of $100 collected before the application is submitted. Upon receiving your completed application and fee (one per child, please), the admissions team will evaluate your application and based on program needs, the balance of ages of children in the classroom, and the services MAC provides to meet the needs of your child, you will be contacted if your application moves forward to the next step of a prospective student day visit.

Once applicant materials are collected and the prospective student day has occurred, the admissions committee will review the candidate. 

MAC will assess whether or not we can successfully meet the needs of a prospective student by using criteria including, but not limited to, evaluating previous student records or diagnostic tests, IEPs and through a family and student interview if applicable.

Enrollment offers are made based on program availability and fit. MAC follows the Association of Colorado Independent Schools notification timelines. 

If the applicant is accepted, a prospective student day is scheduled. This day is intended to mirror the daily experience of a student as well as create connections between peers and teachers. During this day, students will be assessed in literacy, math, and organizational skills. Prospective student days are a 1/2 day for Lower Elementary (1st-3rd grades) or full day for Upper Elementary (4th-6th) and Middle School (7th-8th).

1. Completed application
2. Two academic transcripts, one from current year and one from previous
3. IEP/academic support plan
4. Two letters of recommendation; one from a current teacher and one from a current or prior teacher
5. One recommendation letter from a personal reference of student's choice (optional)
6. Social/behavioral records
7. Attendance from the past two years
8. Student interview, writing, and math assessment

Elementary -  March 1, 2024

We view the 6th grade year as the meaningful culmination of a child’s Montessori elementary education at MAC. It is the critical capstone year, during which the students are the oldest and most mature in the Upper Elementary program. This position gives them the opportunity to share knowledge and experience with the younger students while building confidence and leadership skills, which is particularly important as they prepare to enter adolescence. It is for these reasons that we require current MAC students to complete the 6th grade year at MAC in the Upper Elementary Classroom, as we believe in its importance to meaningfully conclude their elementary experience. Incoming students who have more than 2 years experience of Montessori education, particularly students who have experience in a Montessori Elementary classroom consecutively and are prepared for a capstone year would be placed in the Upper Elementary class to complete their capstone year.
