Welcome from Head of School

Welcome to Montessori Academy of Colorado (MAC)!
At the Montessori Academy of Colorado, we believe childhood should feel safe, joyful, and deeply meaningful. Our community is one where every child is truly known not just by name, but by strengths, challenges, interests, and dreams. When students are seen and valued, they take healthy risks, discover their voice, and begin to understand who they are becoming.
Our work is not only academic. We intentionally nurture character, independence, and purpose alongside strong intellectual growth. Families share that they see a meaningful difference in their children as they grow more confident, more thoughtful, and more motivated to take ownership of their learning.
When students graduate from MAC, they leave not only prepared for high school but also prepared for life. A MAC graduate:
- Reads, writes, and thinks critically at a level that exceeds Colorado Academic Standards
- Speaks comfortably with adults, asks thoughtful questions, and advocates for themselves respectfully
- Manages time, long-term projects, and responsibilities independently
- Works collaboratively, resolves conflict constructively, and shows empathy toward others
- Demonstrates resilience, they try again after setbacks and view mistakes as part of learning
- Understands their strengths and interests and can articulate personal goals
- Shows curiosity about the world and confidence to engage with it
From Nido through Middle School, students follow our Purpose Pathway, a thoughtfully designed progression of experiences and capstones that turn learning into authentic application and personal meaning.
Our Nido through Upper Elementary classrooms are authentic Montessori environments accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS) and the Association of Colorado Independent Schools (ACIS). Our Middle School is one of the nation’s early purpose-based programs, helping adolescents explore identity, contribution, and real-world impact while maintaining strong academic preparation.
You can learn a great deal about our school through our website, but MAC is best understood by walking our halls, hearing student conversations, and feeling the sense of belonging that lives here every day.
I would be delighted to welcome you and your child to campus so you can see our mission in action and experience how innovative academics, exploration of character, and a fearless, forward mindset shape each child’s journey.
Sincerely,

Nancy Canning
