Practical Life, Baking in Toddler Community
This week, a few of the Toddler children admiring the sidewalk construction decided they wanted to make muffins for the workers. They prepared, baked, and served the muffins to the crew! Food preparation is a teacher-led activity where the children participate by using a large tray, a recipe, pre-measured ingredients, bowls, spoons, whisks, and a baking sheet. In the Toddler Community, food prep aids in the development of early math skills and real life science. The communication between teachers and students helps with self esteem, comprehension, and the development of sequencing. This was also an impromptu lesson in care for others!
