Lower Elementary Visits the Zoo

Lower Elementary Visits the Zoo
Jennine Friess

Since the beginning of the semester, Lower Elementary has been conducting animal research and many of the students have shown a passion for zoology. The children have been engrossed in finding facts about specific types of animals and how they fulfill their needs, learning in both Spanish and English. In Elementary, when students show such an interest in something, we give them the opportunity to plan a Going Out. They are responsible for choosing the location, calling to secure our visit, and other details depending on their age. On Friday, two groups of Lower Elementary students went on a Going Out to the Denver Zoo. The students who show a passion for Spanish language toured the zoo and conducted their research with Toni, our Lower Elementary Spanish Teacher, in Spanish and the other group toured with Jamie, one of our Lower Elementary Leads. They were all excited to learn outside the classroom and had a wonderful time.
