As we prepared for our accreditation visit, we took the opportunity to get the students involved in practical life exercises within "care of the environment." Students cleaned their classrooms, organized their cubbies, and made flower arrangements and welcome signs to beautify the school! The exercises in practical life cover two main areas of development: care of self and care of the environment. The practical life curriculum in Montessori provides a scope and sequence for everyday routines and practices. It's a purposeful activity that develops motor control and coordination, independence, concentration, and a sense of responsibility.
