The Moveable Alphabet
Jennine Friess
The Montessori moveable alphabet is a fun and hands-on way for children to start exploring reading and writing.
It consists of a set of letters, typically made of wood, that children can manipulate to form words and simple sentences, even before they’re ready to write with a pencil. This activity helps children connect the sounds they hear with the letters that make up words. The moveable alphabet fosters creativity, builds confidence in spelling, and allows children to explore the mechanics of language in a tactile and engaging way.
