Sustainable Fashion Projects in IK-8 Art
Students have been busy in art class! IK-8th grade students are exploring sustainable fashion—clothing designed with environmental and social responsibility in mind.
They’re learning how sustainable fashion reduces waste, incorporates eco-friendly materials, and upholds ethical production practices. For their projects, students are creating upcycled, wearable art using their own old clothing. The work is highly independent and individualized—some are embroidering, others are painting, screen printing, mending, or even deconstructing garments to sew entirely new pieces. As part of their learning, students will also visit Patagonia to see firsthand how the company supports sustainability and communities. To end the project, the students have requested to host a sustainable fashion show—stay tuned!
