Middle School Presentation of Learning: Culinary Science Unit

Our 7th and 8th grade students just completed their second Presentation of Learning, the Culinary Science Unit, in which they explored pre-Columbian Mexican cuisine.

This unit followed the Universe of Obligation unit and examined food through both scientific and cultural lenses. Students showcased individual research projects and invited the MAC community to engage with their findings. The unit’s purpose was to investigate the chemical reactions that occur during cooking, how our bodies perceive taste, and the essential role of food in supporting both individual health and community well-being.
