Middle School at Montessori Model UN
Jennine Friess

Our Middle School students returned from the Montessori Model UN in Rome and had an unforgettable and life-changing experience, for which they spent the entire school year preparing.

The Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN) is an educational program that provides students from Montessori schools around the world the opportunity to participate in a simulation of the United Nations. This program is designed to help students learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the workings of the UN. MAC students participated in the ECOFIN Council (Economic and Financial Affairs) and FAO Council (Food and Agriculture Organization). They presented speeches on global issues such as cybersecurity, food insecurity, disaster risk reduction, and agricultural plastics in the countries they represented including Cuba, Morocco, and Nigeria. They all agree it was an incredible and knowledgeable trip where they were able to meet new friends from all over the world!
