Math in Primary

Math in Primary
Jennine Friess

In our Primary classrooms, students work with the colorful bead stair to build a strong foundation in math. Each bead bar represents a number from one to nine, and children arrange them in order to form a “staircase.”

This hands-on activity helps children recognize numbers, count with confidence, and understand quantity in a concrete way. As they explore, they begin to see relationships between numbers, preparing them for addition and more complex math work later on. The bead stair is an engaging, visual, and tactile way for children to experience math as something real and joyful.
