MAC Attends Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) Conference

MAC Attends Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) Conference
Jennine Friess

At MAC, “Fearless, Forward Learners” describes both the students in our classrooms and the educators who lead them. Last weekend, Program Directors Emily Clark and Kay Loer, along with Toddler Lead Teacher Lesley Lefkowitz, joined more than 750 Montessori educators and administrators from around the world at the annual Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) conference in San Diego for three days of reflection, collaboration, and professional growth.

Centered on Montessori as an Aid to Life: Embracing the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child in Everyday Practice, the conference explored how honoring children’s rights shapes daily classroom life and reaffirmed Montessori’s call for the continual growth and transformation of the adult. A keynote by Donna Hicks, Ph.D., author of Dignity: Its Essential Role in Resolving Conflict, reinforced the importance of ensuring every individual feels seen, heard, and valued, an idea deeply aligned with our Montessori practice and community.

Dedicated time for our leaders to learn, reflect, and exchange ideas strengthens what they bring back to campus. Classrooms become more intentional, lessons more meaningful, and teachers even better prepared to guide each child. By investing in our Valued + Visionary Educators, we ensure MAC remains a school where our mission thrives, sustained by a culture of curiosity, purpose, and fearless forward growth.
