Lower Elementary Student Research and Presentations

Lower El giving Presentations
Jennine Friess

Every Wednesday in Lower Elementary students have the opportunity to present a research project in front of their peers by gathering information from various sources. Students select a topic of personal interest and spend time researching 3 important questions they come up with by finding 3 facts for each, at their pace. Once they have completed their project they can present their research and accompany it by creating a physical presentation. This can be an actual demonstration like a few students did last week researching how parachutes work to dioramas as 2 students did when presenting research on the northern lights. After their presentation, they answer 3 questions from peers which encourages students to understand their topic deeply and think critically. Regularly presenting in front of peers helps students improve their self-confidence and build their organizational skills.
