Elementary Student-led Businesses
Jennine Friess

In Upper Elementary, students engage in purposeful work that connects learning to real responsibility and meaningful contribution. Through student-led businesses like the coffee cart and hot lunch delivery service, learners apply academic, social, and practical life skills while supporting shared community goals.

If you’ve spent time at morning drop-off, you may have noticed the focused, hardworking students running the daily coffee cart. Operated by 6th graders, this business supports their upcoming trip to Washington, D.C. From managing inventory to preparing drinks and serving customers, students collaborate and problem-solve while building responsibility and work ethic. Parents can pre-order online using this link for pickup upon arrival!

Upper Elementary students also operate a hot lunch delivery service to support both their end-of-year trip to northern New Mexico and the 6th-grade trip to Washington, D.C. Offering mac and cheese, burritos, and pizza (each with a piece of fruit), students manage orders and deliveries while learning real-world business skills. Last year's 6th grade class  raised over $21K, gaining invaluable skills along the way. Through this work, students learn that responsibility, collaboration, and service are the foundation of a meaningful life, and hallmarks of fearless, forward learners.
