Beginning of Year Trips
Our Upper Elementary and Middle School students visited the YMCA of the Rockies last week. This is the first time that the two classes have visited the same location for their beginning of the year trip.
They spent the first day working together on the low ropes course, learning how to build trust, teamwork, and collaborative skills. On Day 2, middle school students spent time together hiking and horseback riding in Rocky Mountain National Park, while the Upper Elementary class learned about fire ecology and outdoor survival skills. Over the course of the trip, students learned more about their zone of challenge and risk and how to support their classmates. Overall, the kids enjoyed learning more about each other, bonding, and kicking off the school year with a wonderful experience.
