Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Cultivating Belonging. Strengthening Community.

As part of our strategic focus on Engaged + Equitable Community + Culture, MAC is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture where all members feel a deep sense of belonging. As one unified community, we are committed to ensuring every member experiences voice, purpose, and belonging.

This work is guided by our Community Commitment Statement:

Community Commitment Statement

We provide an authentic Montessori educational experience at MAC, which at its core, is an experience rooted in acceptance, love and understanding.

Diversity, equity and inclusion are a natural extension of the Montessori philosophy and we embrace the responsibility of cultivating peace and understanding in our learning environments.

Our diversity, equity and inclusion efforts create a more inclusive and equitable MAC community that affirms the identities of every individual with dignity and respect. We are committed to social justice and an anti-bias approach in our work with students, families, our staff and our surrounding community.

Learning with Purpose. Belonging in Practice.

At MAC, anti-bias education is an intentional part of daily learning. We help children build confidence, embrace diversity, understand fairness, and feel empowered to stand up for themselves and others.

To guide this work, our Anti-Bias Education Committee, made up of teachers and administrators from across the school, meets during professional learning days to explore practical strategies and ensure anti-bias principles are actively integrated into classrooms.

Our approach is centered on four core goals:

Identity:  Nurturing each child’s understanding of themselves and their social identities. Students grow in self-awareness, confidence, and pride in who they are.

Diversity:  Encouraging empathy, comfort, and connection across differences. Students form meaningful relationships and celebrate human diversity.

Justice:  Building the ability to recognize bias and understand its impact. Students learn to identify unfairness and its consequences.

Action:  Empowering children to respond to bias and stand up for themselves and others. Students gain the confidence and skills to act for fairness and inclusion.

Through these goals, our teachers bring anti-bias education to life every day, creating classrooms where every child feels seen, valued, and equipped to contribute to a just and inclusive community.
