About

MAC's front of the Stout building

The Montessori Academy of Colorado (MAC) is a metropolitan school that engages each child through innovative academics, exploration of character, and a fearless, forward mindset.

MAC is a leading Denver private school serving children from 8 weeks to 8th grade. Through 6th grade, students thrive in authentic, multi-age Montessori classrooms where they develop independence, confidence, and leadership skills, transforming from learners into capable, curious, and empowered individuals. In 7th and 8th grade, our Purpose-Based Middle School builds on this foundation, guiding adolescents through self-discovery, global connection, and purposeful learning, preparing them to enter high school with clarity of direction and the skills to lead positive change.

Founded in 2002, MAC celebrates over 20 years of cultivating fearless, forward learners. The school is a cornerstone of Denver’s Curtis Park, RiNo, and Five Points neighborhoods, leveraging the city’s rich cultural, civic, and environmental resources to enrich learning. Immersed in this real-world environment, students develop critical thinking, collaboration, creative problem-solving, and global awareness, equipping them to thrive as the next generation of innovators and world citizens.

As one of the few schools in Colorado with dual accreditation from the Association of Colorado Independent Schools (ACIS) and the American Montessori Society (AMS), MAC pairs authentic Montessori education with a pioneering Purpose-Based Middle School. Small class sizes, trained and certified teachers, and thoughtfully prepared learning environments across all age levels provide the personalized attention and rich experiences that allow each child to flourish.

With a vibrant community of approximately 250 students supported by passionate educators, engaged families, and committed administrators, MAC offers more than academics. In a world of rapid change, we prepare children not just what to learn, but how to learn, laying a foundation that benefits them throughout life and inspires them to lead with purpose, curiosity, and confidence.

We feel so lucky to be part of the MAC community. Our kids are challenged daily to stretch their minds and hearts in ways that are preparing them to take on the world as engaged, creative and passionate citizens.
