Emily Jensen

I started at MAC in January of 2008; this is my fourth year as a Lead Teacher in Cielo. I have experience working in children’s art programs, play-based, and Reggio Emilia curriculums and I love to intergrate this philosophies into the classroom. I have  a background in MA in Educational Psychology from the University of Colorado, and a BA in Studio Art from Kenyon College.  I also lived in Boston and New York working as a freelance artist - of which I've been known to do from time to time.

Personal Info – hobbies, interests, inspirations

I love to cook and have recently become interested in baking as well as making pasta from scratch.  My daughter is an equestrian, so I have a newfound passion in horses and riding.  Of course, I still make art and aspire to write and publish children’s stories, poems, ideas or whatever comes to mind.  I have a deep respect for music as it truly soothes my soul.

Montessori Moment – favorite quotes from students, anecdotes

For me, watching the children evolving in their work whether it be from moment to moment, day to day, or month to month, is exciting and inspires my own interest and creativity. I value the children's  interest and excitement in what they are learning; seeing the respect, concern and love they show for each other daily sets the tone and creates the fountain for the Cielo classroom.
