The Montessori Academy of Colorado is celebrating over 10 years of excellence.
The Montessori Academy of Colorado is a school for children between the ages 8 weeks through 1st grade. We will phase our growing elementary program and have K-5th grade by 2017. We strive to be a dynamic school that honors the diversity of our staff, students, and families. We offer specials and extracurricular activities that include: art, music, ballet, yoga, spanish language lessons, and piano lessons. It is our goal to meet the needs of every child enrolled in our school.
Our mission as a school is to unite educators and families in a mutual commitment to nurturing the potential of our children and community. We commit to the joy of learning from our children, each other and our environment. We will continue to pursue the discovery of excellence in each child by creating and renewing a space for children to grow, learn and discover their own true nature. We will remain respectful of and responsible for our children, our environment and ourselves by embracing the lifelong cycle of teaching and learning. We commit to ensuring that our school will thrive and prosper for future generations to benefit from the heartfelt passion that embodies our mission. Our belief in Montessori education is the foundation of this school and the philosophy that will guide us as we strive to achieve our mission and fulfill our commitments.
We, at the Montessori Academy of Colorado, believe that educational excellence is the only choice. We invite you to visit our school and become educated about our philosophy, vision, programs, and, of course, actual practices in the classroom.
Founded in 2002, The Montessori Academy of Colorado (MAC) offers programs for children from 8 weeks through 6 years old. MAC is a non-sectarian, non-discriminatory school relative to race, color, sex, religion, national/ethnic origin or family makeup and is a non-profit organization. Our goal is to provide an educational environment that serves the whole child, where he/she can grow intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically, and our curriculum is designed on a continuum of developmental education that follows each individual child. Our educational philosophy follows the Montessori Method of education, but is constantly expanded through further studies and research in education.
The Montessori Method of education is named after its founder, Dr. Maria Montessori (1870-1952). By working with, and scientifically observing children, she brought about a new form of education. She respected each child as an individual with unlimited potential and provided an environment that allowed the natural unfolding and education of that child within the limits of respect for oneself, the environment and others. The Montessori environment is specifically designed around an individual’s distinct learning style, allowing him/her to progress at his/her own pace, with guidance and support from teachers. It is important to note that Montessori education is a guiding philosophy that incorporates many different curricula. This allows specific curriculum guidelines to be developed for each individual’s distinct needs.
